RACE ON A friend of mine is running her first half marathon; in fact I think it is her first race. There is lots of advice I could give, but advice can become confusing. To simplify things I’ve linked the advice to the acronymRACE ON. The advice isn’t new, it’s the bread and butter of many running articles and if freely bandied about at running clubs, butRACE ONbrings it all together to demystify and de-stress race day. (The advice is based on a half marathon but most of it would apply to a race of any distance). |

Halloween in Framlingham saw 36 grown adults running around calling for tricks and treats. A regression to childhood? No the members of the running club out training. Monday night means training for the members of Framlingham Flyers. This Monday training coincided with Halloween and the two were joined together with a Trick or Treat Fartleck session around The Mowbrays. The group split into 6 teams, each team having their own ghoulish symbols on their backs: The trailing entrails – Curling ribbon |

Coached at the running club (Framlingham Flyers) last night.. A pyramid session at The Mowbrays. Having measured a lap of the road on Map My Run at about a quarter of a mile, I planned the session as a pyramid of laps: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1, with recoveries of about half the running time between each lap. (There was also an option of a shorter lap missing one of the hammer heads of the road). The runners warmed up with a jog from the club down station road and back to The Mowbrays. |

Phew!! Had a really busy day at 'belles on bikes' on Sunday. Arrived just after 8.30am to set up and didn't leave until gone 3.00pm. We (thats Kevin and I) arrived before any of the participants. Joseph from Suffolk Cycle kindly showed us where we could set up. As we put up the gazebo and got out the massage table and information the cyclists started to arrive. Everyone was in good humour and looking forwards to their ride on what was a beautifully sunny day. The bikes and participants came in all shapes and sizes, from lycra clad ladies with sleek racing bikes to children on trailer bikes behind their mums. |

Looking forward to 'belles on bikes', starting from Framlingham Castle on Sunday. I will be offering free 10-15 minutes massages to the participants to help soothe tired legs.
